Take ownership of a busy village pub kitchen – and make it your own
We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef, or an ambitious Sous Chef ready to step up, to lead the kitchen at The Bell Inn.
So, why are we recruiting?
It’s an exciting time for our team. We’re preparing to open The Old Passage Inn at Arlingham, just down the road, which has created opportunities for existing members of our team to progress and move within the business.
That means we’re now looking for the right person to take the reins at The Bell – with the opportunity to build your own team, shape the kitchen and make the role your own – and with another pub joining our family-run business, there will be even more opportunity for development and progression in the future.
The Bell itself is a thriving village pub at the heart of its community. We’re busy, we’re established, and we’re not trying to be something we’re not. Our customers want proper, good-quality pub food. That means great dishes and seasonal specials, but it also means making sure the sandwiches, pub classics and cheesy chips are just as good every time.
We’re looking for a chef who understands that balance.
This is an opportunity to take real ownership of the kitchen: build a strong team around you, develop the menu over time and put your own stamp on an already successful pub.
The role
As Head Chef, you’ll have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including:
- Leading and motivating your kitchen team
- Maintaining consistently high standards during busy services
- Developing the menu and introducing seasonal dishes and specials
- Managing ordering, stock, wastage and GP
- Training and development of your kitchen team
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Working closely with the pub management team to drive the business forward
Who we’re looking for
You’ll ideally be an experienced Head Chef with a background in a busy pub or similar high-volume kitchen.
We’d also be very interested in hearing from a strong Sous Chef who is ready to take the next step.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Can confidently lead a busy kitchen and team
- Takes pride in consistency as much as creativity
- Understands food costs, GP, stock and wastage
- Is organised and calm under pressure
- Enjoys developing and getting the best from their team
- Wants the freedom and responsibility that comes with running their own kitchen
- Is looking for a stable, long-term role, rather than simply their next move
What we offer
- £40,000 salary
- Full-time, permanent position
- Nearby accommodation available for the right candidate
- The opportunity to shape the menu and build your own team
- Support from an experienced, hands-on family management team who understand the importance of work/life balance
- Company pension
- Healthcare cash plan
- A secure role within an established, family-run pub group
Already working as a Head & Sous team?
Even better. We’re also on the lookout for a Sous Chef , so we’d be very happy to hear from an established Head Chef & Sous Chef who would like to make their next move together.
About us
The Bell Inn has been part of the Frampton-on-Severn community for more than 20 years, and we’re part of a family-run pub business with over 40 years’ experience.
We’re not a big corporate chain. Our pubs have their own identity, their own customers and their own teams. We want our Head Chefs to understand their pub and have a genuine say in how their kitchen develops.
If you’re looking for a Head Chef position where you can take ownership, build a great team and settle into a secure long-term role, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today with your CV and a short cover letter – we look forward to hearing from you!
