We are looking for a passionate and reliable Chef to join the kitchen team at The Seven Stars, a traditional pub in a beautiful South Devon location.
About The Seven Stars
The Seven Stars is part of Quality Inns of Gloucestershire, a family-run pub group with 15 unique pubs across Gloucestershire and Devon.
We’re not a traditional chain. Each of our pubs has its own character and community, but they all share a focus on good British pub food, quality ingredients and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
We’re looking for a Chef who enjoys cooking proper pub food and wants to be part of a kitchen team where they can contribute ideas, develop their skills and progress their career.
The Role
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and help ensure we consistently deliver great food to our customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Preparing and cooking a range of traditional pub dishes to a consistently high standard
- Helping to manage and motivate the kitchen team
- Supporting menu development and new dish ideas
- Maintaining high standards of food presentation and quality
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and deliveries
- Monitoring food quality and portion control
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence
- Working closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a hands-on Sous Chef who is confident working in a busy kitchen and enjoys the variety that comes with a traditional pub environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Chef or Chef de Partie
- Experience working in a pub, restaurant or similar busy kitchen
- A good understanding of traditional British food
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
- The ability to lead and support a kitchen team
- A positive attitude and good communication skills
- The ability to remain calm and organised during busy services
- A genuine passion for good food and hospitality
