Quality Inns Family Pubs are looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead the kitchen at The White Hart, Broadoak, a well-loved pub in beautiful Newnham-on-Severn serving quality British food made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or Senior Chef who wants to take ownership of a kitchen, lead a team and put their own stamp on a traditional British pub food offering.
About The White Hart
The White Hart is a characterful village pub with a strong local following and a focus on quality food, friendly service and a great pub experience.
As Head Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to take the lead in the kitchen, develop the food offering and build a strong kitchen team while working closely with the Pub Manager.
The Head Chef Role
You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, service, food hygiene and kitchen organisation.
You’ll be responsible for leading and developing the kitchen team, managing food costs and GP, overseeing stock and ordering, and creating menus and daily specials that make the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating and developing the kitchen team.
- Creating seasonal menus and daily specials using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
- Preparing and serving food to a consistently high standard.
- Maintaining excellent standards of food quality and presentation.
- Managing stock levels, ordering and supplier relationships.
- Monitoring food costs and working within agreed GP targets.
- Maintaining food hygiene, health and safety standards.
- Training and supporting junior chefs and kitchen team members.
- Managing busy services calmly and efficiently.
- Working closely with the Pub Manager and front-of-house team.
- Helping to develop and improve the pub’s food offering.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced Head Chef who enjoys working in a busy pub or restaurant environment and takes genuine pride in their food and kitchen.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef or senior chef.
- Experience working in a busy pub, restaurant or managed house.
- A passion for fresh, quality British food.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good knowledge of stock control, ordering and food GP.
- Excellent food hygiene and food safety knowledge.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and hands-on during busy services.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- The ability to develop and motivate a kitchen team.
- A genuine passion for delivering great food and a great customer experience.
Due to the rural location of The White Hart, a driving licence or reliable means of transport is highly desirable.
