Fancy running a country pub together?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Couple to take on the day-to-day running of The Salmon Inn, Wanswell.
We’re looking for a couple who can bring together two key sides of the business – one taking the lead front of house and managing the pub, and the other taking ownership of the kitchen.
The Salmon is a traditional country pub and this role would suit a couple who enjoy being hands-on, getting to know their customers and having the freedom to really make a pub their own.
Even better, the role comes with a lovely three-bedroom apartment, making this a great opportunity for a couple looking to relocate or make a lifestyle change together.
The opportunity
Together, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of the pub, working closely to deliver great food, warm hospitality and a well-run business.
Between you, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting the pub team
- Delivering consistently great customer service
- Taking ownership of the kitchen and food offering
- Preparing and serving quality, straightforward pub food
- Developing menus, specials and seasonal dishes
- Managing rotas, staffing and day-to-day operations
- Stock management, ordering and supplier relationships
- Managing food costs, GP, wastage and other key performance indicators
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, health & safety and operational standards
- Building relationships with regulars and the local community
- Developing events, promotions and opportunities to grow the business
- Creating a welcoming pub that customers want to return to
The kitchen can be a relatively independent operation, particularly during quieter services, so the chef within the partnership will need to be confident, organised and comfortable managing their own prep and service.
We’re not looking for a couple who want to manage from the sidelines. This is a hands-on opportunity for two people who enjoy hospitality and want to become genuinely involved in their pub.
What we’re looking for
Between you, you’ll ideally have strong experience within pubs, restaurants or hospitality management, with one person bringing solid kitchen experience and the other confident managing front of house.
Previous experience running a pub together would be fantastic, but it isn’t essential.
More importantly, we’re looking for a couple who are:
- Hands-on and happy to get stuck in
- Friendly and genuinely passionate about hospitality
- Reliable, organised and self-motivated
- Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions
- Commercially aware
- Passionate about good pub food and great customer service
- Keen to become part of the pub and its local community
